Common questions from customers and contractors — all in one place.
WashPane is an online marketplace that connects customers who need window cleaning with local window cleaning professionals. Customers post a job, receive quotes, and choose the offer that suits them best.
As a customer, you post a job with some basic details — location, property type, window count, and when you're available. Contractors then submit quotes, and you can accept the one you prefer. Although you enter your address into the job, contractors are only shown a vague area until you accepted a contractors quote, and the job has been confirmed.
As a contractor, you browse available job posts in your area, you can then submit quotes for the ones you want, and get notified if your quote is accepted. You then get a final chance to accept/decline the job. If you accept, you complete the job and get paid.
Yes, both customers and contractors need to create an account to post or quote on jobs. It only takes a minute, and it's completely free to sign up.
No — creating an account and browsing jobs is free. Customers only pay when they accept a quote, and contractors only pay a small platform fee once a job is completed and paid.
Not right now — WashPane is fully mobile-friendly. You can use it on your phone or tablet just like an app. A native app may come in the future.
Contractors are required to verify their information and go through a Stripe onboarding process. In the future, WashPane may offer reviews, but for now, you’ll see the name and company of each contractor before accepting a quote.
Increasing the speed at which you receieve quotes is one of our top priorities, most customers receive quotes within a few hours. Response time depends on your location and how many contractors are nearby.
Right now, communication happens through the platform during the quoting process. Direct contact details may be available after a quote is accepted.
Once you accept a quote, the job is created and scheduled based on your selected availability. The contractor will confirm the final time slot, and you’ll be notified when it’s confirmed.
Yes — WashPane uses secure, encrypted connections across the platform. Payments are handled by Stripe, a leading PCI-compliant provider. We never store your bank details, and we follow strict data protection standards.
A 10% platform fee is charged on each completed job. This helps cover payment processing and WashPane's background costs.
No — customers don’t pay any extra fees. The quote you accept is the total amount you’ll pay for the job.
Once a job is marked complete, payment is automatically released via Stripe. It typically arrives in your bank account within 1–2 business days.
Stripe doesn't charge customers directly. For contractors, Stripe’s processing fees are included within the 10% platform fee — there are no additional charges.
Yes. After payment is processed, customers automatically receive an email receipt. Contractors can download job payment records from their dashboard.
WashPane deducts a 10% platform fee from your quote total. You’ll always see a clear breakdown of what you'll receive before submitting the quote.
First, create an account and select the contractor role. Then complete your Stripe onboarding to start quoting on jobs.
When a customer accepts your quote, the job enters a pending state — waiting for your final confirmation. If you’re overbooked and unable to commit, you can choose not to confirm. In that case, the job is cancelled and the customer is refunded. While this flexibility exists, repeatedly backing out after acceptance can affect your trust score and visibility on the platform.
Yes — all contractor accounts are reviewed to ensure a quality experience for customers. You’ll get an email once your account is approved.
You must complete your Stripe Connect setup and receive account approval before you can quote.
No — to protect customer privacy, you’ll only see the general area (like city or postal code) until your quote is accepted. The full address is revealed after that.
No — WashPane is a platform, not an employer. Job availability depends on customer demand and how competitive your quotes are.
Accepted jobs appear on your dashboard. From there, you can confirm time slots, mark jobs as complete, and track your payments.
Yes — you can cancel a job from your dashboard, but please provide a reason and as much notice as possible. Frequent cancellations may impact your reputation.
Just sign up as a customer and click 'Post a Job' from your dashboard. Add a few details about your property, how many windows you need cleaned, and when you're available.
Contractors send you quotes based on your job post. You’ll see the total price and any included details before accepting. Once you accept, Stripe takes you through the checkout process, and later takes payment when the contractor accepts.
The payment process starts when you accept a quote, but isn't taken until the contractor also gives their final confirmation. This means you only pay when the job is confirmed.
Yes. WashPane uses Stripe, a leading global payments provider, to securely process your payment. Your card details are never stored on our servers.
Once you accept a quote, the contractor receives a notification and must confirm the final date/time. If they decline or don’t confirm, your payment isn't taken
Yes, you can cancel any job before it’s confirmed. If a contractor has already confirmed, cancellation may be subject to timing and our cancellation policy.
Currently, there is no direct messaging before accepting. You can read their message included with the quote, which often contains any extra info or notes.
WashPane encourages customers and contractors to resolve any issues directly first. If you're unsatisfied, you can report the job through your dashboard and Washpane can assist.
